windows xp validating identity wireless network-77

updating to build war z

This is a really easy fix: First download the Microsoft XP update KB893357 on a computer that has internet and get it to the computer that doesn't via flash drive or burning it to a CD.

Run that update, it probably will make you restart your computer.

- Wireless Network Connection Properties says Connect using: Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection - From there, I select the Wireless Networks tab, and select the name of my home network under the Preferred Networks section, then select Properties - 3 tabs then say Association, Authentication, Connection - Association tab: Network name (SSID) - then, name of my home wifi network Wireless network key Network Authentication: (Open, Shared, WPA, or WPA-PSK) -- I select WPA-PSK Data encryption: (TKIP or AES) -- I select AES Network key --- I enter the password we use on the Netgear wifi server When I hit the "Connect" button to connect to the network, it will say, "Please wait while Windows connects to the network" then after several seconds, it will say that it has connected, but then will sit there with a yellow star above the 5 green bars showing wifi signal strength, and just to the left of the star it says "Validating identity" and will stay that way indefinitely. The little status icon that's supposed to indicate your wireless network status in the bottom right of the computer screen (in the taskbar) shows a computer with a yellow dot moving back and forth beneath it.

Double click that status icon to pull up Wireless Network Connection Status and it shows Connection Status: Validating identity Network: (name of my home network) Duration: (currently at -- yes "connected" for almost 3 hours, but not actually allowing internet connectivity) Speed 54.0 Mbps Signal Strength: 5 bars Activity Packets: Sent 256 Received 3 Sorry if this is over-detailed, (or maybe I've actually given too few details to solve the problem).

After about 30 minutes of fiddling around with various settings, I was able to figure out what the problem was.

Wireless Network Connection shows that the laptop is picking up my home wifi network, and shows that it is connected, but continues to say "Validating Identity" and is not allowing me to access wireless services.I recently bought a new Linksys wireless router and after setting it up with basic WEP security, I tried to logon from my laptop and was successful! So then I tried to connect from my desktop computer that has a wireless USB adapter attached to it and I ended up getting this error message: Fabulous! I checked my settings on the wireless router to make sure I didn’t accidentally setup certificate security, but found no such thing.
